Security Reports – February 2, 2010

January 25 5:25 p.m.
A female student reported she fell near the Fine Arts Center and hurt her back where it had been hurt previously. She stated she hadn’t sought medical attention nor did she seek any.

January 26 4:30 p.m.
A female student reported someone struck her vehicle while it was parked in a Drake University parking lot located in the 1300 block of 31st street. A phone number was left on her windshield. Security called the number and the female at the other end stated she was busy but would call back later.

January 26 5:58 p.m.
Security responded to the Bell Center based on persons who had entered the building and refused to show identification. It was determined one male was a student and the other was not a Drake student but, had the student’s identification card. The student’s identification card was confiscated by the building manager. The person who was not a student was advised on trespass for the campus.

January 26 8:57 p.m.
Two female students reported property stolen from unlocked lockers in the Bell Center. All the property was later found in a women’s restroom stall and the only thing missing was a pair of shoes and a credit card. The credit card was cancelled.

January 26 1:41 a.m.
Security responded to Stalnaker Residence Hall based on report of an intoxicated female who was taken into the hall by two males. It was determined the underage for drinking female student was lying on a towel placed on the floor in her fourth floor room. Alcohol was emanating from her and she was vomiting all over the towel. It was determined she had been drinking at a friend’s house (two or three beers) and became intoxicated. Her roommate stated she would keep an eye on her during the remainder of the night. A resident assistant was present.

January 28 1:58 a.m.
Security monitored that Des Moines Police were going to the West Village on an unconscious male. It was determined a 21 year old student was intoxicated and passed out. After his ineffective attempts to vomit he ran to the third floor and once again passed out. He was moving side to side in an ungraceful manner. He was taken to the fifth floor and after great effort he was able to find his keys in his pocket. After considerable struggling to get his room key into the key hole he was successful and entered his room.

January 28 3:11 a.m.
Security responded to Jewett Residence Hall based on a report of an unconscious female. It was determined that an underage for drinking male student and a 21 year old female student had entered Jewett Residence Hall. According to the roommate of the male, both students entered the room and enjoyed each other’s company for awhile. They then left as the underage male needed to go to the bathroom to relieve his stomach of the alcohol. According to witnesses the female went to another male’s room with her pants down and sat on his desk. She then pulled up her pants and left the room. She went to another male’s room and walked up to his bed and began touching him in an exciting manner. She was intoxicated as was her male companion who had brought her to Jewett from a bar located in the 3000 block of Forest Avenue. The female was given a ride back to her residence in the 1300 block of 34th street.

January 28 1:50 p.m.
Security monitored fire/rescue being sent to Jewett Residence Hall based on an overdose. It was a determined a female student took a large quantity of depression medication and stated she was trying to kill herself. She was transported to a local hospital by fire/rescue. The Dean of Students was advised.

January 28 1:45 p.m.
A male staff member reported someone had hit a fence at on the Meek Street Walkway. It appears that a vehicle struck the fence and a smashed vehicle license plate remained behind as evidence of same. A police report was filed and the case is being investigated.

January 30 2:30 p.m.
A female student reported she has been receiving annoying text messages from someone named Travis. The student’s father has called his local police for follow-up.

January 31 1:38 a.m.
A security officer from another department stated they had an intoxicated Drake student at 1217 24th street. It was determined that the male adult was a former Drake student. He called someone to pick him up and transfer him to a different location.

January 31 2:3:31 a.m.
Security responded to Herriott Residence Hall based on a complaint of five males being disorderly. An underage for drinking and intoxicated male student was among the group and was being argumentative and produced a fake driver’s license from another country. Police were called and the license confiscated. Two underage for drinking male students were asked to leave the residence hall for the night and called for a ride.

January 31 3:10 a.m.
A female student reported she was sexually assaulted in a Drake Residence Hall.

January 31 3:50 a.m.
A female student reported someone had been pounding loudly on her door for about fifteen minutes and that she and her roommates were hiding in their room at Ross Residence Hall. Security arrived but observed no one near the room but indentations were found from the pounding in the door. They did observe a female stumbling on a near-by street. The underage for drinking female student stated she had been pounding on the door to her room in Ross Residence Hall but no one would let her in so she left. The student stated she had been drinking whiskey which sometimes causes her to lose her memory. It was determined she had been pounding on the wrong door and she was taken back to her room where she was admitted by a roommate. A resident assistant was advised.

January 31 11:52 p.m.
Security responded to Herriott Residence Hall based on report of a female student having a seizure. It was determined the student fell off her bed and was lying on the floor. Fire/Rescue was called. The student was checked by fire medics and then she declined any further medical assistance.

February 1 5:51 p.m.
A female staff member reported her wallet was stolen sometime between 8:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on February 1 in her 3rd floor office of Aliber Hall. She stated she had left her office unlocked a few times during the day when she left to attend to other matters. A report was also filed with police.

February 1 7:53 p.m.
A security officer observed the aftermath of a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles in the 2600 block of Forest Avenue. All persons advised they were okay. Both drivers stated a vehicle driven by the female student had slid into Forest Avenue from an alley near the real estate office due to weather conditions and struck a vehicle driven by a male not associated with the University. Police were called and handled.

    …”She went to another male’s room and walked up to his bed and began touching him in an exciting manner”… are you kidding me Drake? This line was not necessary at all in this report.
