FOOTBALL FIESTA

By KENSIE SMITH on February 04 2010

Make Invites
If the party space is limited, make invites to onlyallow a certain number of guests. You can orderinvites online at http://party411.makesparties.com orgo green and send out online invites athttp://www.punchbowl.com. Make your own.Use a football background or set the two teams’helmets against each other. Include who is hostingit, when the party starts and where peopleshould gather.

Make It Fun
Have balloons and foam balls scattered aroundto throw at the TV if the referees make a badcall. Make each touchdown a chance to celebrateand annoy the neighbors, by providingguests with noisemakers, pom poms, whistlesand cowbells.

Make It Themed
Challenge all the party guests to dress in football-themed attire. There are many different options for this including favorite team jerseys (wear that Vikings shirt proudly!), cheerleading outfits or at least colors of the teams playing.

Make It Competitive
If guests are cheering for different teams, decorate each half of the room in the teams’ colors. Make a line down the middle of the room with masking tape and have a contest on which fans can do the best cheer when a touchdown is scored.

Make Food
Appetizers can get expensive, so buy items like tortilla chips, beans and cheese for a simple taco dip in bulk. Instead of pricey Super Bowl store-bought cakes, take bake-and-break sugar cookies and decorate them with the teams’ colors. Set out food buffet-style for easy access and use your own dishes and silverware, rather than having to purchase paper and plastic.

Make It Decorative
For the pregame party, divide guests into two teams and give each team five football-themed words. At the beginning of the game, test how well you can bite your tongue with the “Don’t say football” challenge. Give each guest a paper football to wear for the night. If anyone catches anyone else saying football, they can “steal” their ball. Whoever has the most footballs at the end of the game wins.
